Customized training elevates value of fall protection

You don’t have to have a doctorate in physics to use fall protection, but you should study the hazards and know how to use your equipment properly. When you understand how your equipment works, you are less likely to be preoccupied with it when you’re on the job.

As a leader in the Fall Protection industry for over 70 years, MSA Rose has helped to shape the standards, regulations, product innovations, and training that drive the industry. We have always considered our excellent training programs to be among our finest “products,” as well as a crucial part of our turnkey package of fall protection products, training, and engineered services.

Much of our training is based on a theory of “Safety at Heights,” a comprehensive, practical approach to personal fall protection for people who must work at heights. MSA Rose training courses are among the most active, hands-on, solutions-based fall protection training courses offered today for supervisors, safety professionals, program managers, engineers, and at-risk workers. Choose customized or general courses, according to your needs.

MSA Rose excels at developing customized fall protection training. We can tailor a course specifically for your company, with on-site training at your facility. The advantage of customized training at your facility is that your employees are trained to deal with the real, specific fall hazards that they are faced with every day. In most cases, there is no extra charge to tailor a course to fit your needs.

The majority of the customized fall protection training courses we develop become on-going training programs. For example, we have developed:

  • Tower climbing and confined space entry/non-entry rescue courses for telecommunications and utility industries, and
  • Interactive training programs and comprehensive fall protection programs for the automotive industry.

As in the examples stated previously, we can provide the initial training so that a group of your employees can serve as your “Competent Person.” Then your “Competent Person” can go on to train your remaining employees.

Another option is attending one of our regularly scheduled courses at the MSA Rose National Training Center in Englewood, Colorado. Our standard courses range from the “Fundamentals of Safety at Heights,” to the “Competent Person for Safety at Heights,” to the “Qualified Person for Safety at Heights.” Some of the course topics covered include:

  • Hierarchy of Controls principle
  • Dynamics of a fall
  • Selection, use, and inspection of fall protection equipment
  • OSHA regulations and ANSI standards
  • Basic requirements for a fall hazard program
  • Fall hazard identification and evaluation
  • Safety at Heights planning
  • Rescue considerations
