How
do you protect your head from bumps when you don't need a hardhat?
You wear a bump cap.
If
you're a butcher, an auto mechanic, or a meter reader, a bump cap lets
you keep your mind on your job and not on the possibility of running into,
say, a side of beef or the underbelly of a car.
MSA now offers a standard plastic style of Bump Cap as well as a "soft"
ballpark-style cap with a plastic liner to protect wearers from minor
bumps.
Both caps are designed for applications in workplaces such as food processing,
pest control, meter reading, and automotive repair. They protect the wearer's
scalp by reducing exposure to abrasions and lacerations caused by minor
bumps to the head. The key word is "minor" bumps. Bump caps are appropriate
ONLY for work situations that do NOT require ANSI-compliant head protection.
The durable, high-density polyethylene Bump Cap has perforated sides for
cross air ventilation. It's comfortable and easy to clean. You can even
get your Bump Cap custom-imprinted in one color, on the front, if you
want. Choose from six bright colors of stocked Bump Caps for less than
$4.00 each (US list price).
MSA's NEW SofCap™ hat is based on a universally popular style. This100%
cotton baseball-type cap with eyelet holes is comfortable, yet helps protect
against lacerations and scrapes to the scalp in the areas covered by the
plastic liner. An inner foam pad offers additional comfort. Choose a SofCap
hat from six colors, for about $10 (US list price).
