Xtreme® Air Masks are first to meet latest NFPA demands
On August 22, 2002, MSA received notification from SEI that MSA’s
MMR Xtreme Air Mask with Nightfighter™ Heads-Up-Display and Quick-Fill®
Universal Rescue Connection was the first SCBA to successfully pass
independent testing that assures its compliance with the latest NFPA-1981
2002 Edition Standard.
New safety enhancements to MSA’s premier MMR
Xtreme Air Masks ensure that they meet and exceed the constantly more
demanding expectations of the Fire Service. Innovative MSA engineering
and technology continue to satisfy the NFPA’s annual advances
in SCBA standards for protection and performance.
This year’s MMR Xtreme Air Masks have
two major additions.
• The Nightfighter™ Heads-Up Display (HUD) wireless system
displays the remaining air volume in the SCBA user’s cylinder
through a series of lights that are easily visible inside the facepiece
A built-in light-intensity sensor measures the amount of ambient light,
automatically adjusting the HUD’s light pipes to 16 preset levels
of brightness. A flashing low-air warning light alerts the wearer to
25% or less cylinder air. A viewing window allows the partner to see
the alarm condition.
• Emergency Breathing Systems developed
by MSA are now standard equipment on all Xtreme Air Masks. The Quick-Fill®
URC provides a universal rescue connection for replenishing breathing
air supplies. MSA’s Quick-Fill System also remains the only system
capable of transfilling from one firefighter’s SCBA to another.
