MSA hardhat

An overhead crane worker was struck on the head by a 25-pound trolley controller as he worked on a Virginia Power project in April.

The controller fell about 10 feet before hitting the employee, but his MSA hardhat protected him from a serious head injury. A few stitches were all that was needed for him to get back on the job.

It is truly fortunate that this worker was not seriously injured since this impact far exceeded the designed capacity of the hardhat. This degree of protection should not be expected.
