MSA Safety Works Will Double Home Depot Presence in 2001

"Home, Sweet Home" does not necessarily mean "Home, Safe Home." In fact, “home” is one of the unsafest places you can be, where you are most likely to suffer a disabling unintentional injury.

But, MSA safety products and instruments can make your home safer, “one project at a time.” MSA Safety Works, our consumer products division, is dramatically expanding its presence in Home Depot stores nationwide, doubling to almost 600 stores by the end of 2001. The Home Depot, currently with over 1100 stores in the U.S. and Canada, is our largest home improvement retailer.

"We are ecstatic to be awarded these stores," said Harry Kunze, MSA Safety Works' business director. "We believe that our products and programs are second to none in the consumer safety products industry--and this rapid expansion shows that leading retailers agree!"

MSA Safety Works has grown from modest beginnings in 1998, to become one of the leaders in the consumer safety arena. New geographic areas add or add to MSA’s presence in the Southwest, Gulf coast, mid-Atlantic states, northern California, Florida, and Canada.

Last year MSA won the Public Relations Society of America's prestigious Silver Anvil Award for our MSA Safety Works brand introduction, including the Safety Bug Promotional Tour that brought the home safety message to hundreds of thousands of Americans. This year, elementary school children are part of the "Be a Safety Bug" program that is currently being rolled out across the country. It features a safety curriculum which encourages children to "bug" their friends and parents about home safety and protecting yourself from hazards in and around the house.
