Acquires Surety Manufacturing to Enhance Fall Protection Line
As part of our strategy to improve core capabilities and existing product
lines through strategic acquisitions and continuous improvement, MSA acquired
Surety Manufacturing and Testing Ltd. of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on
February 2, 2001. This acquisition complements MSA/Rose’s existing
line of fall protection products/services and will expand our product
lines to the fire service market. Surety
is a leading provider of fall protection equipment and rescue systems
for the railway, construction, and utility markets. Serving customers
in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, and South America, Surety is best known
throughout the safety industry for its large-scale research and testing
facility in Edmonton. Featuring a 93-meter railway trestle bridge, a
fully operational construction crane, and a 22-meter high steel structure,
it is the only facility of its kind in the world. The 100% scale structures
are used for research and development of related fall protection products
and systems.

lifeline systems, and retractable lifelines and has dedicated significant
resources to providing customized fall protection systems and training
