MSA AUER hands gloves to Germany’s flood cleanup crews

Cleaning up after a ruthless, devastating flood is a sad, wearying, dirty, and sometimes dangerous task.

Recently, to help them cope with the aftermath of their country’s “flood of the century”, MSA’s German affiliate MSA AUER in Berlin donated 12,000 pairs of work gloves (free of charge) to firefighters, emergency services workers, and volunteers.

"We hoped our contribution would make the difficult cleanup work safer by protecting people working in the flooded areas," said Rudolf Bruecklmeier, MSA AUER’s sales director.

The donation consisted of 10,000 pairs of heavy duty work gloves for salvage work and 2000 pairs of chemical protection gloves for use with spilled chemicals and heating fuel. Grateful operations centers or other public organizations ordered the gloves as needed.

MSA AUER employees personally also raised funds for flood victims, with management support, as part of the fire service’s “Help for the Helpers” program.

"We thank you . . . for the uncomplicated support. This help . . . demonstrates the good and close cooperation between the fire service industry and the fire service and its head association," said Herbert Becker, federal executive of the German Fire Service Association (Deutscher Feuerwehr Verband--DFV).

Note: MSA no longer markets protective gloves in the U.S., but many of our distributors sell them.
