SOS
wins 4 communications awards
For the second year running, Spotlight on Safety
has earned highest honors in The Communicator Awards 2002 Print Media
competition. This Crystal Award of Excellence is given to benchmark
entries whose ability to communicate
puts them among the best in the field, only 12% of about 3,350 entries.
SOS also won an Honorable Mention award in the Writing
category.
Possibly even more prestigious is the Grand Award
bestowed upon SOS by the Apex Annual Awards for Publication Excellence.
In a field of almost 5,900 entries, only 98 were honored with Grand
Awards. A judge’s comment accompanied each winner’s listing
on the web site. We were commended with: "This is riveting -- crisp,
succinct, interesting storytelling with a personal experience for every
job site risk. The 9/11 narrative is especially powerful."
The fourth award, also from Apex, is an Award of Excellence
for a “magapaper produced mainly by 1-to-2 people.” (SOS
received an Apex Award of Excellence in 2001 as well.)
The Communicator Awards and APEX 2002 are national
awards organizations that recognize outstanding work in communications
effectiveness and excellence in graphic design and editorial content.
Entries are judged solely on their own quality, creativity, and resourcefulness---against
a high standard of excellence, instead of against each other.
MSA’s quarterly newsletter for customers
is read by over 45,000 people with an interest in work site safety and
health. We must be doing SOMETHING right, but YOU are whom we aim to
please, so let us know what we can do to improve SOS for you and your
employees.
