On an early spring evening this year, two units from the south-central
Pennsylvanias Cumberland-Goodwill Fire & Rescue Department
arrived at the scene of an automobile accident on an interstate
highway.
The vehicle had left the highway, overturned a number of times,
and ejected both occupants. On the way to the hospital, the first
patient, who had been lying near the car, regained consciousness
and reported that his pregnant wife had also been in the car.
Back at the accident scene, the second search began. Two rescuers grabbed
their MSA Thermal Imaging Cameras (TIC) and started to search
the dark wooded area. Within a very short time, they
located the second victim about 200 feet beyond the vehicle. She
had wandered away from the accident scene, delirious with head
trauma.

The firefighters credit their TICs for detecting the womans
warm thermal image almost immediately. They had just bought two
MSA cameras JUST THAT WEEK from MSA-authorized distributor Fire
and Rescue Products of New Kingstown, Pa. Both husband and wife
are doing fine.
