Users of MSA’s FiveStar® Alarm gas monitors already know how easy they are to operate and that their dependability is second to none. But, as Environmental Supply Houston, Inc., technicians found, they’re extremely durable, too.

One FiveStar monitor was sent in for repair after it was dropped more than 125 feet. Amazingly, the instrument continued to operate properly and respond to gas. In fact, the only damage from the fall was to the front display board, reported Leon F. White III, an instrument technician with Environmental Supply Houston. Everything else worked fine.

The FiveStar Alarm offers five-gas capability, which means one detector can do the job of two. It also features a one-button calibration and flexible smart sensors that can detect dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, ammonia, and other harmful gases.
